Sparkle: The Classic vs. The Remake

I’m not sure how to feel about the remake of Sparkle, a 1976 movie that told the rise and fall of three sisters who was on the path of stardom. Sparkle is such a classic. I get nervous when classics are touched.
According to Philly’s Patty’s 411
“Look for the remake of the 1976 movie smash Sparkle. The original starred Irene Cara, Lonette McKee and Philip Michael Thomas. The new version stars former American Idol Winner Jordin Sparks, Whitney Houston, Mike Epps, Derek Luke, Cee-Lo Green, Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter. Sparks will play “Sparkle,” the role made famous by Irene Cara. Houston will play the mother. Mike Epps will play the bad guy “Satin,” who got “Sister” hooked on drugs. Ejogo will play “Sister,” the role made famous by Lonette McKee. Derek Luke will play “Stix,” originally made famous by Philip Michael Thomas. R Kelly is doing the music for the movie. Curtis Mayfield and Aretha Franklin did the original 1976 soundtrack.”

I’m not ready. For the remake. Mike Epps as Satin?????? I could see Idris Elba more so than Epps!!!!! Or since Rick Ross wants to be “Da Boss” so bad, give him an acting job. He’d probably have Satin’s part down.
I’m all for letting classics be. Find something else Hollywood, or better yet, create another story. Be original. The major film industry is missing that a lot… originality and creativity.
